Living the Miracle of Oneness: Step 4. Imagination

MS #124: Dream really big.

Imagination is the engine for the soul. The soul loves to fly—loves to create movement. And we do too. We love to feel the wind at our back, to feel the reward of the accomplishment of a job well done. This world is one of doing, shaping, and building. It’s our imagination and our resolve to take aligned action that gets us there.

In your wildest imagination what brings an absolute smile to your face? When you think of it, you might even let out a giggle, or perhaps a sense of peace spontaneously welling up within you as you imagine of what could be. Ask an adult to imagine their heart’s desire and then ask a child this very same question. Their reactions are predictably different. A child inherently knows that the universe is limitless but an adult sees the world through the filters of limitation and lack.

Once you rediscover your imagination and experience the feeling of expansion in your body—and allow your heart to guide you—your whole world opens up. You begin to reconnect with early fascinations and lost or tucked away fantasies that—like your childhood toys—were put away for another time, another lifetime.

Dreams are the possibilities yet to be discovered. As you allow your imagination to take you to wherever your heart would like to go, you are reconnecting with what your soul has had in mind all along. The soul desires to feel joy in the physical aspects of your grand adventure here on earth.

Before I go on, I want to emphasize that it doesn’t matter how old you are or how different your life is in present moment. When you let go of self-limiting beliefs, you are fulfilling your purpose by whatever makes you feel passionate about your life. It’s less about accomplishment and more about feeling. How deeply do you feel? How passionate are you about your life?

I was once reminded that money, power and prestige are nice but like a king or queen sitting on a throne, it takes a lot of time, energy and focus to rule and protect your kingdom. If that is your heart’s desire, go for it. But if your life is already inundated with power, wealth and things that do not guarantee happiness, your imagination is much more likely to focus on the feeling nature that flows into those images—feelings like love, inclusiveness, passion, friendship, honor, and being understood. Imagination triggers the kind of exhilaration that comes from self-expression. At the end of life it will matter less about what you have accomplished and more about the passionate way that you will have lived and loved.

Your imagination is like any other muscle. It’s got to be exercised. If not, you’ll forget and benignly put away your zest for life and become a boring, bored person with no inner fire or passion. Everyone has a dream, and it’s your imagination that shows you the dream and how to manifest what you feel or see inside.

Take this time, now, or decide to set aside a specific time to dream. Allow yourself to dream your life without boundaries of time and space, resources or logistics. Amp it out to your heart’s content. Make it real. Express yourself inside those realities that play out as your soul sends pulses light into your heart and has you ready for your next grand adventure. Honor your imagination and fly.

If you find yourself imagining a particular scenario time and time again, take note. Keep track of the variations of the same theme. Write or draw it out. Some of the wildest inventions, the start of innovative companies or life style changes have been birthed into form this way.

The most amazing thing about dreaming is that if you are allowing yourself to go with the flow, and you take the steps as you sense or see them, you’ll soon discover that the impulses have logic and reason built into them, but far beyond anything your mind could strategize into creation. Let this be your time to dream and to trust what your heart tells you to do.

Remember: As you reconnect to your joy and follow the impulses of your heart, you’ll be delighted with the pleasant surprises along the way.
